POWELL / SOUTHERN DELAWARE COUNTY

At the northern border of the Columbus metropolitan area, this wide open region once made up of farms is now a rapidly growing residential area made up of planned neighborhoods and upscale subdivisions.  Residents enjoy the country atmosphere and the easy 14-mile commute to downtonw Columbus

Rolling farmland has been transformed into neighborhoods with names like "The Retreat", "The Chase", "Loch Lomond", "Sherbourne Mews", "Bartholomew Run", "Olentangy Ridge" and "Wedgewood", which is an exclusive community bordering the Wedgewood Country Club.  On the western side of Powell, the new community of Golf Village features upscale condominiums, patio homes and single family homes, all located around the new  Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club. In the middle is the quaint village of Powell, a charming old business district full of antique stores and specialty shops. New shopping centers, including the Mall at Polaris, have sprung up to serve the growing number of families moving into the area.

Southern Delaware County is home to the award-winning Columbus Zoo, Six Flags Wyandotte Lake water park, the Olentangy Indian Caverns and the 1,000+-acre Highbanks Metro Park.  The Liberty Township/YMCA Recreation Center features an outdoor pool, 8-lane indoor pool, fitness center, indoor track and other classrooms.

The Olentangy School District includes 12 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and 3 high schools, as well as the private Village Academy in the heart of Powell.

The mostly single-family homes in the Powell area are priced in the $150,000 to $2 million range.
