   BEXLEY

Located three miles east of downtown Columbus on the banks of Alum Creek, the city of Bexley is a prestigious suburb characterized by its tree-lined streets and stately homes.  Incorporated as a village in 1908, Bexley was developed by a small group of prominent Columbus families, including Robert H. Jeffrey, a former mayor of Columbus, E.N. Huggins and Colonel Lincoln Kilbourne.  The village officially became a city in 1932.

Today Bexley covers 2.5 square miles and has just over 13,000 people.  It is known for its excellent city services, community involvement, extensive parks network and its highly regarded school system.  Within its borders are the Ohio Governor's Mansion, the estate used for the President of the Ohio State University, the Jeffrey Mansion, Capital University -- a liberal arts university known for its law, business and music schools -- and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.

Bexley's acclaimed school system consists of 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school.  For those who prefer private schools, the city boasts the exclusive Columbus School for Girls, St. Catharine School, and Saint Charles Preparatory School for boys.

In addition to its beautiful tree-lined streets, Bexley boasts a charming business district made up of shops, galleries, restaurants and the Drexel movie theater, which is popular with the university professors, students and arts-loving Central Ohians.  Its parks include the building and grounds of the Jeffrey Mansion while the popular Franklin Park Conservatory is just outside the city limits.  Bexley residents also can choose from a wide variety of churches and synagogues.

Many well-known Americans have hailed from Bexley including billionaire Leslie Wexner of The Limited stores, Bob Greene, the Chicago columnist who wrote Be True to Your School, children's author R.L. Stine, cartoonist Paul Palnik and several recent governors of Ohio.

Bexley offers a diverse range of housing options from smaller homes to estate-sized mansions.  Prices range from below $200,000 to several million dollars.
