NEW ALBANY

Founded in 1837, the village of New Albany has changed dramatically from a sleepy farm town to an affluent, forward-thinking community on Columbus' east side.

Twenty minutes northeast of downtown Columbus, New Albany is dominated by a large and growing planned community which was the dream of "The Limited" Stores founder, Les Wexner.  Set amid scenic farmland and horse pastures,  this upscale community is known for its signature Georgian architecture and forty miles of picturesque white fencing.

In the center is the New Albany Country Club, which features a 27-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, 2 Olympic-sized swimming pools, 20 tennis courts (including 2 grass courts), a croquet course and an extensive fitness center.  Social memberships to the Country Club are limited to residents of the New Albany Country Club community.

The development has been designed to include an abundance of green space and is connected by 12 miles of leisure trails.

A spectacular "Learning community" campus is made up of 8 buildings, including a K-1 elementary,  2-5 elementary, a middle school (6-8), a high school (9-12) and a Health and Wellness Center, which includes primary care physicians, health and wellness classes, activities and daycare for more than 120 children.

Other subdivisions in the 26-square mile New Albany-Plain Local School District include Hampstead Village, New Albany Links and Albany Park.  Homes range from under $200,000 to several million dollars in the Country Club Community.
