Located northwest of Columbus in Delaware County, Powell was founded in 1801 as Middlebury, after the Connecticut town the settlers had left. The name was later changed to honor Judge Thomas Powell, a prominent citizen. Recent growth and wise choices about growth led to Powell being named Money Magazine’s 18th best place to live in 2005

Essentially a bedroom community for Columbus, Powell offers a charming historic village area, and many attractive neighborhoods, beautiful parks, and an array of lovely developments at a variety of price points. Fast-growing, the city is also still building out, so many new homes or build-to-suit are also available. Most of Powell’s neighborhoods offer wide streets, sidewalks, and beautiful public landscaping.
